Energy & Utilities

Manage Multiple Assets

Substations, feeders, PV, wind, and storage don’t behave the same but they must be run as one estate. We define repeatable builds per asset class (substation, feeder automation, PV block, wind turbine, BESS node) so commissioning, spares, and updates are consistent without flattening the unique needs of each site.

Aligned to Your Processes

Keep your control logic where it belongs. We acquire field points from RTUs/IEDs/inverters over common interfaces (e.g., Modbus and I/O), add timestamps and buffering for link gaps, and deliver compact telemetry to your historian/broker/cloud no fragile PCs in cabinets, no rip-and-replace of protection or automation schemes.

Growth Without Chaos

As distributed energy resources expand, networks see more endpoints, more variability, and more vendors. We help you absorb that growth with policy-driven networking, containerized edge logic where needed (e.g., filtering, KPI roll-ups, exception reporting), and clean upstream topics—so planning and operations keep pace with interconnects.

Operate Remotely

Storms, switching, and seasonal peaks demand discipline at scale. With estate-wide visibility you can pre-check sites before weather hits, throttle or pause non-critical updates, push fixes in rings, and watch recovery as links return reducing truck rolls and shortening time-to-restore.

Use this as your quick map from requirement to control. We’ll supply detail and templates during scoping.

  • Coverage diversity and path resilience
Urban substations, rural feeders, and remote generation sites each have different WAN realities. We design for path diversity (utility WAN/private LTE/public cellular; dual-SIM; policy-based failover) so telemetry and access stay up as conditions change.
  • Governance across contractors and decades of assets
Multiple vendors and long lifecycles create drift. RCMS enforces templates and ringed updates and keeps a full activity trail so you can show who changed what, when, and why during reviews and investigations.
  • Data quality over constrained links
Backhaul can be expensive or congested. We buffer, timestamp, and de-duplicate reads; publish compact JSON over MQTTS; and, when needed, run edge containers to filter and compute KPIs so SCADA/cloud receives signal, not noise.
  • Standardization across mixed portfolios
Traditional and renewable fleets share patterns but differ in detail. We define repeatable builds by asset class—substation, feeder automation, PV, wind, BESS so spares are predictable and commissioning stays fast.
  • Safety and security posture you can evidence
Services off by default, signed firmware, encrypted configuration, role-based access, session controls, and auditable change histories documented in the Security Centre and visible in RCMS.
The quick take

Choose a Router when you need clean, proven SCADA backhaul and light protocol bridging at substations, feeders, and metering sites. Step up to an EG-series Edge Gateway (RobustOS Pro) when you also need on-site processing to filter/aggregate DER data, act locally during link outages, or integrate vendor-specific toolchains at PV, wind, or BESS nodes.

When a Router is the right tool

SCADA first: Primary/backup over utility WAN or cellular with policy-based failover and dual-SIM; ideal for RTUs, IEDs, reclosers, and meters.

Connect & forward telemetry: Read Modbus RTU/TCP and digital/analogue I/O, buffer during dropouts, and publish compact JSON over MQTTS to your historian/broker/cloud no PC in the cabinet.

Lean, repeatable builds: DIN-rail footprint, EMC-hardened, low power. Fast commissioning across feeders and district cabinets.

When an Edge Gateway is needed

DER & site logic at the edge: Run containers on RobustOS Pro to compute KPIs, batch/threshold events, and normalize inverter/BESS outputs.

Latency/bandwidth pressures: Make millisecond decisions (alarms, local interlocks) and send summaries from PV blocks, wind turbines, or storage.

Custom integrations: Talk to vendor SDKs, proprietary serial/ASCII, or file drops (CSV/XML) on site; expose a small REST/gRPC API to local systems, publish one clean upstream topic.

Either one you choose Robustel Guarantees
  • Industrial networking & security: VLANs, firewall, VPNs, QoS; services-off-by-default, signed firmware, encrypted config, role-based access.
  • Fleet operations: RCMS for Zero-Touch, templates, ring updates, monitoring/alerts, and full who/what/when audit trails.
  • Field-ready design: DIN-rail hardware, approved antennas, global carrier/regulatory approvals, long-lifecycle SKUs.

Every operation is different, but the patterns are familiar. With millions of Robustel devices in 100+ countries, there’s a good chance we have solved challenges like yours. The examples below show how our products improve reliability, security, and cost control. If your exact scenario is not listed, talk to an expert and we will tailor a plan.
