Smart Cities
Reliable, scalable connectivity for connected city infrastructure.
Smart cities depend on real-time data to manage lighting, waste, traffic, and public services efficiently. Robustel provides secure, scalable networking solutions that connect diverse city systems — from IoT-enabled streetlights to intelligent traffic control. Our industrial-grade devices withstand outdoor conditions while enabling remote monitoring, automation, and predictive analytics. By integrating seamlessly with municipal IT and OT systems, Robustel helps city planners reduce costs, improve public safety, and create more sustainable, livable urban environments.
Connect infrastructure, standardize change, and scale services
Why City and Building Managers Choose Robustel:
Manage Mixed Assets

Modern estates blend Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cellular, and LoRaWAN across many vendors. We provide a repeatable build for cabinets and Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) routing, segmentation, remote access, and device onboarding so transport, lighting, waste, security, and BMS projects run the same way.
Edge2Cloud Integration

Read Modbus RTU/TCP and I/O from legacy controllers (BMS/EMS, meters, chillers, VFDs) or ingest LoRa sensor data. Normalize, buffer, and publish compact JSON to your broker or cloud no fragile PC in the cabinet.
Edge Processing Logic

On EG-series Edge Gateways (RobustOS Pro, industrial embedded Linux) run containers for filtering, KPI rollups, rules, or small REST/gRPC APIs useful for camera-triggered events, lighting scenes, or occupancy-driven HVAC tweaks while routing/VPN/segmentation stay under the same roof.
Scale with Growth

With RCMS, standardize templates, onboard with Zero-Touch, roll updates in rings, and see health, data use, and activity logs across districts, campuses, and buildings. Grant least-privilege, time-boxed access to vendors via RobustVPN fully auditable.
How Robustel Helps You Overcome Operational Challenges:
Use this as your quick map from requirement to control. We’ll supply detail and templates during scoping.
- Many vendors, one operating model
City programs and multi-tenant buildings span contractors and brands. We enforce role-based access, templates, and ringed updates so each project follows the same playbook—with a full who/what/when trail. - Public access without OT exposure
Guest Wi-Fi, kiosks, and portals coexist with building controls. VLANs and policy isolate traffic; RobustVPN grants time-boxed vendor windows to specific services so IT stays comfortable. - Coverage and resilience across districts
Basements, streetscapes, and rooftops vary. We design for path diversity (Ethernet, private/public cellular) and dual-SIM; LoRaWAN covers wide areas with battery sensors; RCMS alerts catch marginal sites early. - Data quality over constrained links
Backhaul bandwidth can be scarce. We buffer, timestamp, and de-duplicate data; publish compact JSON; and run edge containers to compute KPIs so cloud systems get signal, not noise. - Standardization across portfolios
Lighting, meters, HVAC, cameras, EV chargers—different, but repeatable. We define asset-class builds (cabinet/IDF, LoRa, camera) so spares, commissioning, and change control are predictable.

IoT Routers or Edge Gateways: What to Use, and When:
The quick take
Use an R-series Router for secure backhaul and light protocol bridging (great with Edge2Cloud). Step up to an EG-series Edge Gateway (RobustOS Pro) when you also need on-site processing or LoRaWAN for wide-area, battery-powered sensing.
When a Router is the right tool
Backhaul & segmentation: Primary/failover over site WAN or cellular, plus VLANs/firewall/VPN/QoS for cabinets and IDFs.
Connect & forward: Use Edge2Cloud to read Modbus RTU/TCP & I/O from BMS/EMS devices and publish compact JSON (MQTTS) to your platforms.
Lean footprint: Fast, repeatable installs where cabling already exists and edge logic isn’t required.
When an Edge Gateway is needed
On-site logic (EG-series): Run containers for filtering, KPI rollups, event correlation (e.g., camera + PIR), or small REST/gRPC APIs—keep routing/VPN/segmentation under the same roof.
LoRaWAN at scale: Use LoRa-capable gateways (e.g., R1520-LG, LG5100) to concentrate long-range, low-power sensors (air quality, occupancy, leak, parking, waste, meters) and backhaul via cellular or site WAN to your chosen LNS.
Bandwidth/latency wins: Preprocess locally and send summaries instead of streams; act on local conditions when round-trip to cloud is too slow.
Either one you choose Robustel Guarantees
- Industrial networking & security: VLANs, firewall, VPNs, QoS; services-off-by-default, signed firmware, encrypted config, role-based access.
- Fleet operations: RCMS for Zero-Touch, templates, ring updates, monitoring/alerts, and full who/what/when audit trails.
- Field-ready design: DIN-rail hardware, approved antennas, global carrier/regulatory approvals, long-lifecycle SKUs.
