Robustel R2120
5G RedCap
Industrial 5G RedCap Dual-SIM PoE-PSE Router with RS-485
The Robustel R2120 5G RedCap incorporates 5G RedCap connectivity into Robustel’s PoE-PSE industrial router. Built around the same hardened aluminium enclosure and RobustOS architecture as the R2120 series, this variant integrates 5G RedCap (3GPP Release 17) as its primary cellular technology delivering throughput and 5G core network access for deployments where those capabilities are a genuine operational requirement, without the cost and complexity of full 5G NR.
At its core, the R2120 5G RedCap is a purpose-built connectivity hub for security and industrial automation applications. Five Gigabit Ethernet ports four of which deliver PoE-PSE output compliant with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at at up to 30W per port allow IP cameras, access controllers, sensors, and other powered field devices to be connected and powered through a single cable run. Combined with dual-SIM cellular failover, RS-485 serial connectivity, four opto-isolated digital I/O ports, and Wi-Fi 5, the R2120 5G RedCap gives engineers and integrators a single device capable of handling connectivity, power distribution, serial bridging, and alarm I/O in environments where running separate infrastructure for each function is neither practical nor cost-effective.

Example R2120 Use Cases
5G-Connected IP Surveillance

Deploy and power IP cameras and NVRs at construction sites, industrial facilities, or public infrastructure over a single Ethernet cable no separate power run required. The R2120’s 5G RedCap backhaul delivers the throughput headroom that high-resolution video feeds demand, while dual-SIM failover and RCMS remote PoE management keep cameras online and controllable without a site visit.
Smart City Public Infrastructure

Provides secure, high-throughput 5G backhaul for street lighting controllers, traffic management nodes, and environmental sensors. The RS-485 port bridges legacy SCADA and monitoring protocols to IP networks, while digital I/O enables direct alarm signalling and remote switching all managed centrally via RCMS from a single operations dashboard.
Industrial Remote Networking

Connect RS-485-enabled PLCs, RTUs, and industrial sensors using Modbus RTU to TCP bridging, with digital inputs for alarm detection and digital outputs for direct equipment control. The R2120’s 5G RedCap cellular primary link with 4G/LTE fallback and dual-SIM redundancy ensures monitoring continuity in locations where fixed-line infrastructure is unavailable or impractical.
