Robustel MG460 Forwarder

IEC 61162-460 forwarder for segmented, IACS-aligned vessel networks.

The MG460 Forwarder is a DNV-certified, IEC 61162-460 maritime forwarder that standardises inside-the-vessel data exchange while preserving strict network separation. It bridges the 460-network and other controlled ship networks (e.g., IAS) using VLAN-based segmentation, per-port firewalls, traffic-priority management, and IGMP proxy for efficient multicast—so critical navigation and control traffic remains protected and predictable.

Designed for modern compliance frameworks, the Forwarder is built for IEC 61162-460 (Ed.3) domains and helps owners align with IACS UR E26 (ship cyber resilience) and UR E27 (on-board systems) when deployed within a compliant architecture. Monitoring and alerts support auditability, while RS-232/422/485 and DI/relay I/O simplify integration with legacy equipment.

Pair it with the MG460 Gateway to complete the vessel-to-shore path: keep shipboard domains segmented on board, then export only approved data through a policy-controlled DMZ and encrypted tunnels for shore workflows. Final acceptance remains at the discretion of your class society.

Example MG460 Forwarder Use Cases

Bridge to IAS Data Exchange

Share only approved signals (e.g., engine RPM, tank levels) between the 460 bridge domain and IAS using VLANs and per-port firewalls maintaining isolation while enabling operations.

Navigation Data Share with QoS

Distribute IEC 61162-460 multicast (GNSS, gyro, AIS) to ECDIS, conning, and VDR via IGMP proxy and traffic prioritisation avoiding flooding and preserving timing.

Audit-Ready 460 Backbone

Implement monitored, alarmed 460 domains with logging for class/cyber audits. Pair with the MG460 Gateway to hand off only approved datasets to shore securely.
