Robustel strengthens its commitment to the global LoRaWAN ecosystem as customers move from connected sensors to practical edge integration, OT convergence, and scalable Massive IoT deployments.

Robustel today announced that it has joined the LoRa Alliance® as an Adopter Member.

The LoRa Alliance is the global association behind the open LoRaWAN® standard for low-power wide-area networks. By joining the Alliance, Robustel is strengthening its commitment to open, interoperable LoRaWAN technology and to the wider ecosystem of device manufacturers, network operators, software providers, system integrators, and solution partners working to scale Massive IoT deployments globally.

Robustel’s renewed focus on LoRaWAN comes as the technology enters a new phase of adoption. Robustel has been developing and supplying LoRaWAN gateways since 2017 and has seen steady growth as customers adopted LoRaWAN for smart buildings, utilities, agriculture, industrial monitoring, and distributed infrastructure.

In 2026, growing demand and more diverse deployment requirements have led Robustel to expand its LoRaWAN portfolio with three new gateway models: the R1320LGe, LG3120e, and LG5120. Together with the established R1520LG, the expanded portfolio supports a wider range of deployment models, from straightforward packet forwarding into external LoRaWAN Network Servers through to embedded LNS options, cellular backhaul, remote device management, edge processing, and building/facility-focused protocol integration.

Robustel sees this shift as the third wave of LoRaWAN.

The first wave proved that long-range, low-power wireless sensing could work. The second wave helped networks, platforms, and ecosystems scale. The third wave is now focused on turning LoRaWAN data into usable operational value through edge processing, protocol integration, remote management, and closer convergence with OT, BMS, SCADA, cloud, and enterprise systems.

“LoRaWAN has already proven its importance as a long-range, low-power connectivity standard for Massive IoT,” said Tao Yang, CEO of Robustel. “We believe the next wave of LoRaWAN will be defined by how effectively sensor data can be made useful inside real operational environments. Customers do not only need data to reach the cloud; they need that data to be decoded, managed, integrated, and acted on across buildings, utilities, industrial sites, and distributed infrastructure. This is why now is the right time for Robustel to deepen our participation in the LoRaWAN ecosystem through the LoRa Alliance.”

Robustel’s LoRaWAN strategy is built around flexible deployment models. Some projects require simple, reliable packet forwarding into an external LoRaWAN Network Server. Others benefit from embedded LNS options, cellular backhaul, remote device management, edge processing, protocol integration, or building/facility-focused automation. This flexible approach allows customers and partners to choose the architecture that best matches each project: simple where simple is enough, and more integrated where local processing, OT integration, building automation, or remote operations are required.

As an Adopter Member of the LoRa Alliance, Robustel aims to contribute to the continued adoption of LoRaWAN by supporting practical, scalable deployments that align with the Alliance’s mission to achieve Massive IoT through global adoption of LoRaWAN technology.

“We are delighted to welcome Robustel to the LoRa Alliance,” said Alper Yegin, CEO of the LoRa Alliance. “Gateways are the backbone of every LoRaWAN network, and members that pair robust hardware with edge processing and remote management are central to taking the standard into demanding operational environments. Robustel’s experience across industrial and infrastructure deployments strengthens our ecosystem, and we look forward to working together to scale Massive IoT through open, interoperable LoRaWAN.”

Robustel’s participation in the LoRa Alliance reflects its broader strategy to support connected operations through industrial-grade hardware, software, remote management, and ecosystem collaboration. The company will continue expanding its LoRaWAN gateway portfolio and related software capabilities to help distributors, system integrators, network operators, and end customers deploy LoRaWAN solutions across a growing range of operational environments.
