RobustOS or RobustOS Pro?

RobustOS is the standard OS for our routers and modems. It provides secure networking, fleet management, and an SDK for extendability. RobustOS Pro is a separate Linux Debian–based environment for industrial computing and containerized applications. Choose RobustOS for networking control and fleet operations; choose RobustOS Pro when you need edge compute and container orchestration alongside routing.

RobustOS is engineered for link diversity and predictable failover so remote locations stay reachable. You can shape traffic, switch paths, and verify health locally through the Web Manager or CLI, with device-led Smart Roaming optimizing cellular paths when conditions change.

Does Smart Roaming require special SIMs or RCMS?

No. Smart Roaming runs on the device and works with standard SIMs, including dual-SIM strategies where supported. RCMS can help you apply the same policies at scale and watch performance trends.

What if I need basic protocol translation?

RobustOS supports common use cases at the edge, such as Modbus RTU/TCP bridging to IP flows. For wider southbound and northbound options, you can add Edge2Cloud applications.

Can I develop custom apps on RobustOS? (SDK)

Yes. The RobustOS SDK lets you build C or C++ applications that integrate with system services and the on-device Web Manager. Workloads are not containerized here; if you need containerized edge computing, choose RobustOS Pro.

Can I migrate configurations between devices or firmware versions?

Yes. Export known-good profiles from a device and import them to identical or compatible models. Always review firmware release notes and test in a lab before broad rollout.

How do logs and diagnostics work in the field?

You can capture packets, review event and system logs, and run interface diagnostics directly on the device for faster fault isolation. If you use RCMS, those same diagnostics are available remotely.
