ITS Teknik – https://www.its-teknik.dk/
ITS Teknik delivers parking guidance solutions for public and private owners of larger parking facilities, where drivers need to be guided to the nearest available space. Their ITS Park system can aggregate data from multiple sources—such as in-ground loops, video cameras, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras, and single-space detection—to generate the occupancy information that drives guidance logic.

M2M Nordic (Denmark) – https://m2m.dk/
M2M Nordic is a Denmark-based provider of industrial communication products and solutions for the M2M and IoT market, with a particular focus on mobile networks. In this project, M2M Nordic supported ITS Teknik by helping evaluate the available connectivity options and supplying a cabinet-ready 4G backhaul design built around the Robustel R2010, including the SIM and antenna components required for stable field connectivity.
Herausforderungen
ITS Teknik’s parking guidance deployments depend on reliable data flow from field infrastructure to backend systems and a cloud-based monitoring environment used for operations and service. If engineers must be physically present to troubleshoot, service equipment, or change configurations, support becomes slower and resource-intensive. They needed a dependable communications path that operated independently of fixed wired connections.
Ergebnisse
By standardising on a stable 4G connection from the control cabinet to cloud and backend systems, ITS Teknik improved remote serviceability of parking guidance deployments. The approach reduced time spent on avoidable site attendance and supported more efficient use of technical resources when supporting customer installations.
Reliable connectivity for parking guidance systems—without dependence on wired links
Large parking facilities live or die on flow. When drivers can’t quickly find available spaces, congestion rises, entrances back up, and surrounding roads can become part of the problem. Parking guidance systems help by turning “where do I park?” into an informed decision, based on real-time occupancy data and clear routing logic.
But the visible signage and routing logic are only as dependable as the communications layer behind them. ITS Teknik needed a way to keep field controllers connected to a cloud-based monitoring system and backend environment used for operations and service, even where fixed connectivity was not available or practical. The goal was not just uptime—it was serviceability: fewer site visits, faster troubleshooting, and the ability to change configurations without dispatching engineers.
Geschäftliche Herausforderungen
Parking guidance projects have two realities: the system must work reliably in public-facing environments, and it must be serviceable without burning time and resources on avoidable site visits. ITS Teknik’s ITS Park deployments rely on collecting data from several sources, then keeping the system stably connected to the cloud-based monitoring environment used for operations and service.

1. Multiple data sources increase dependency on stable backhaul
ITS Park can collect data from a range of sources such as loops, video cameras, ANPR cameras, and single-space detection. That variety supports more complete visibility, but it also raises the importance of a stable link from the field cabinet to backend and monitoring systems.
Operationally, an unstable connection doesn’t just create “IT noise.” It can reduce confidence in the guidance outcome, complicate fault diagnosis, and increase support effort when systems need attention.
2. Serviceability suffers when changes require site attendance
ITS Teknik uses a cloud-based monitoring system to support operations and service. If engineers must be physically present for troubleshooting, maintenance, or configuration changes, it consumes time and ties up resources that could be used for other work.
In practice, this slows response times and makes it harder to scale support across multiple parking facilities, especially where site access is limited or controlled.
3. Public infrastructure needs robust, cabinet-ready installation
Parking infrastructure is exposed. Cabinets are installed in public environments, and antenna placement has to balance performance and durability. ITS Teknik needed a solution that could be installed cleanly and reliably in the cabinet and maintain strong mobile connectivity without creating a fragile point of failure.
Lösungsübersicht
After evaluating the options, ITS Teknik implemented a solution supplied by M2M Nordic built around the Robustel R2010 4G router. A Telenor SIM card provides the mobile data path, enabling a stable connection from the controller in the cabinet to the cloud and backend system. The router is connected directly to the controller via the LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
For RF performance and durability, a 4G “puck” antenna is mounted on top of the cabinet. The antenna approach is described as vandal-resistant while supporting strong transmission and reception characteristics—important for consistent connectivity in public environments.
Why M2M Nordic Chose the Robustel R2010
- Stable mobile backhaul without wired dependency: The R2010 provides 4G connectivity from cabinet controllers to cloud/backend systems where fixed connections aren’t available or suitable.
- Simple cabinet integration: Direct Ethernet connection from router LAN to the controller supports a straightforward installation and commissioning approach.
- Public-environment installation fit: A vandal-resistant external 4G puck antenna supports robust installation and consistent radio performance.
- Local solution support: M2M Nordic supported the project by evaluating connectivity options and supplying the required components for the final design.
Wichtigste Ergebnisse
Before the rollout, servicing and configuration changes could require physical attendance, consuming time and technical resources. After implementation, ITS Teknik gained a more serviceable operating model: stable cabinet-to-cloud connectivity supported remote oversight and enabled faster support workflows across deployments. This improved operational efficiency while supporting more consistent day-to-day system operation for parking operators.
“We’re very happy to work with M2M Nordic. Together with their suppliers, they’re always ready with support and know-how when it comes to service and equipment. They keep stock in Denmark and can support us at short notice if we suddenly need components,” – ITS Teknik.
- Improved remote serviceability: Less dependence on physical attendance for service, troubleshooting, and configuration changes.
- More consistent connectivity to monitoring systems: Stable 4G backhaul supports reliable operation of the cloud-based monitoring environment used for service workflows.
- More efficient use of technical resources: Reduced travel time and fewer avoidable site visits frees engineers for higher-value work.
- Better day-to-day experience for operators: More consistent system operation supports smoother parking guidance outcomes for end users.
“This is a good example of how M2M Nordic works with customers to find the right solutions to the specific challenges they face—together with the customer and their other partners. We strongly prefer to deliver valuable solutions in collaboration with our customers and their wider ecosystem, not just components,” – Ole Krum-Møller, Partner at M2M Nordic.
