Kigen

eSIM 101: Embracing SGP.32 for Resilient IoT Connectivity

This session explores the evolution of eSIM from its early foundations through to the arrival of the GSMA’s SGP.32 standard, and what this shift means for scalable, real-world IoT deployments.
Starting with the practical challenges of managing connectivity at scale, it will walk through how the industry moved from M2M and consumer eSIM approaches to a purpose-built IoT architecture, before demystifying key concepts such as the eIM, remote provisioning flows, and what runs where. The discussion will highlight critical topics including resiliency—through mechanisms like multi-profile rescue and recovery—interoperability across the ecosystem, and how solutions like Kigen Pulse enable operational control at scale. It will also cover practical considerations such as device form factors, upgrading brownfield deployments, and the value of partnerships like Robustel and Kigen in simplifying adoption.
In short, it’s everything you always wanted to know about eSIM—but were afraid to ask—delivered with real-world insight and actionable takeaways.

Speaker:

Paul leads Kigen’s commercial growth across Europe, driving adoption of secure IoT connectivity and eSIM solutions that enable scalable, future-ready deployments. He works closely with mobile operators, silicon partners, OEMs, and IoT service providers to simplify the insertion and lifecycle management of secure cellular subscriptions, helping customers accelerate time-to-market while ensuring robust security from chip to cloud

With over two decades of experience spanning IoT, 5G, digital security, and mobile communications, Paul combines deep technical expertise with strategic and commercial leadership. Prior to Kigen, he held senior strategy and product leadership roles within Gemalto (now Thales), where he contributed to early 3G, LTE, NFC, and 5G security initiatives and built trusted partnerships across the global telecom ecosystem.

Sightseeing and Tourism

This year, we’ve chosen not to organise any group tourism or sightseeing activities alongside RGPS. The goal is to keep the schedule focused and purposeful so the time you invest in Lisbon is spent on the conversations, workshops, and alignment that directly support your business in 2026.

We also recognise that partners have different energy levels, interests, and commitments, so we’d rather give you the freedom to use any personal time in the way that suits you best, giving you the opportunity of exploring Lisbon at your own pace.

If you would like assistance arranging activities or would like to arrange off-site meetings with Robustel staff during RGPS please let us know.
